Damon self-ligating braces
More comfortable, much faster
Self-ligating braces make treatment more comfortable and at Graham Gardner Orthodontics we offer the Damon System.
What are self-ligating braces?
Unlike traditional braces that require elastics or clips to hold the wire in place, the Damon System of self-ligating braces uses a slide mechanism that eliminates the need for this, meaning less force and ultimately less pain. This “passive” slide mechanism allows the archwire to move freely, thus reducing friction and binding so your teeth can move quickly and more comfortably.
What are the benefits of self-ligating braces?
Faster treatment time: Traditional metal braces use elastics or active clips that "bind" archwires in place. This creates friction and pressure that act like parking brakes and can slow down treatment. Because Damon self-ligating braces slide in response to your teeth, treatment is faster but no less effective.
Less appointments required: The Damon brace system requires less adjustments which means fewer appointments needed.
Cosmetically pleasing: Damon braces are more discreet than traditional metal braces, making them a great option for people concerned about the cosmetics of braces.
Easy to keep clean: Clinical studies indicate the elastomeric rings of traditional braces collect more bacteria and plaque and can lead to adverse gum conditions. Damon braces do not use elastomeric rings, so your braces are easier to keep clean.
